Ultimate Fretboard Visualization Course

Ultimate Fretboard Visualisation is the brand new video course made in collaboration with Tom Quayle.

In this course we guide you step-by-step through the process of visualizing the fretboard using two-point intervallic function shapes - the most powerful and efficient system to visualize anything, anywhere on the guitar.

In addition, the course also provides a highly organised practice plan for working with the Solo - Fretboard Visualization App (iOS). You’ll learn to practice using Solo in exactly the way Tom and David teach their students and use it themselves.

Encompassing 5 hours of tuition, split across 12 sections and 72 videos, Tom and David clearly explain their unique two-point method, and systematically teach how to learn, apply and practice it with the Solo - Fretboard Visualization App (iOS).

Pathways To Jazz/Fusion - Vol 2:

HARMONY, THEORY & OUTLINING CHANGES

The Pathways series is designed for rock, pop and blues guitarists who want to explore jazz/fusion, or generally be more comfortable soloing and outlining chord changes.

This is a brand new course with over 9 hours of structured, video-based tuition that will gradually take you from almost zero understanding to having a good grasp of functional harmony and chord-scale theory.

It will also teach you how to analyse the harmony of jazz and fusion tunes, putting it all into practise with exercises for soloing through changes.

Eventually you will be able to tackle complex chord progressions and do so with a deep, long lasting connection to the fretboard.

The course is comprised of four sections, broken down into digestible, time-stamped video files.

A: Jazz Harmony & Common Chord Progressions

B: Chord-Scale Theory, Melodic Minor & More Advanced Harmony

C: Harmonic Analysis

D: Exercises for Playing Over Changes & Standards

This allows beginners to work sequentially and intermediate players to dip-in where required.

In addition to the video lessons, there are supporting PDFs and dozens of backing tracks to help give context when you're exploring these new sounds and practising the exercises.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL

The course starts as close to zero as possible, but does make the assumption that you play guitar already(!) and are at least aware of the concepts from Pathways Vol 1. So, I'm assuming that you:

1. Can see root notes on the fretboard and know what intervals are.

2. Know how to work out what notes are in the the major scales.

3. Are comfortable with or aware of the cycle of 5ths.

You certainly don’t need to have mastered these concepts, but some familiarity is helpful to get the most out of this course.

Pathways to Jazz & Fusion - Vol One:

Tools for (re)Learning the Fretboard & Essential Music TheorY

This tutorial is the first in a series intended for rock, pop and blues guitarists wanting to move towards playing jazz/fusion, or to generally get more comfortable soloing and outlining chord changes whatever the style.

Volume One covers essential music theory and practical exercises to help thoroughly learn the note names on the neck from cold. It also looks at mapping out intervals and scales all over the fretboard without the need for unwieldily shapes and box patterns. We then cover some of the most common chord/scales that occur in jazz/fusion, and how to start slowly making our way through changes of a single type.

I also discuss some of the challenges we face as rock, pop and blues guitarists, my own journey so far in learning to do this stuff, and some philosophical thoughts on the nature of practising and shaping your musical interests.

Length/Content:

Over 3 hours of HD video to download and/or stream, split across 8 video files, plus PDF file explanations, diagrams, charts and backing tracks.

Difficulty Level: Beginner/Intermediate.

The tutorial assumes some ability on the instrument, but doesn't assume any theory knowledge beyond that of the music alphabet and what tones/semi-tones are. Starting at the very basics the method is structured so that beginners and intermediate players can come in at various points along the way and get the most out of it.
